Dear Pinetree Neighbors,
Happy New Year!! Your Pinetree Civic Association (PCA) board is pleased to provide you with an update on several neighborhood initiatives and recent developments.
Speed Humps: Update
Speeding continues to be a major concern in our neighborhood, particularly on the east side of McCollum Road. We suspect much of this traffic is related to KSU student commuting. After further discussions with the Cobb County Department of Transportation (DOT), eleven new speed humps have now been approved to help slow traffic and improve safety:
Two on Bozeman Lake Rd (between Cherokee St and Shiloh Trail West)
Three on Bozeman Lake Rd (between Shiloh Trail West and Club Dr)
Three on Club Dr
One on Frey Lake Rd (between Campus Loop Rd and Shiloh Trail East)
Two on Overlook Trail
Installation is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2026.
Cobb County Code Compliance
Over the past several months, we have received inquiries related to Cobb County Code, including:
Operating a business from a personal residence
Unsightly debris on residential property
When the PCA Board receives a complaint regarding a potential code compliance issue, our process is as follows:
We review the Cobb County website or contact Code Compliance to determine whether a violation exists.
If a violation is identified, we contact the property owner to make them aware of the issue, suggest possible remedies, and offer assistance if needed. We also provide relevant contact information if there are questions or concerns.
If no action is taken after several weeks, we submit the concern to Cobb County Code Compliance, which then follows up directly with the homeowner.
KSU Student Parking
A significant parking issue recently developed on Frey Lake Road near Campus Loop Road, likely related to nearby KSU student parking. The increasing number of vehicles—often parked on both sides of the road—created a potential safety hazard.
At our request, the Cobb County Department of Transportation (DOT) installed multiple “No Parking” signs along Frey Lake Road from Campus Loop Road to Shiloh Trail East, as well as on Shiloh Trail East near the Frey Lake Road intersection. In addition, Kennesaw State University installed a sign at the entrance to Frey Lake Road from Campus Loop Road.
Best wishes to everyone for a happy and safe 2026.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions.
